New Regulation on the Administration of Health Food soliciting opinions
The second edition of the Regulation on the Administration of Health Food came out for soliciting opinions on 12th of September. From this version, great changes have been made compare to its 1st edition and current regulations as well.
From the regulation, two-tier market access method is expected to implement, that is to say, notification system and product-by-product registration system. The regulation prescribed that SFDA will make a list of health food which only need to notify SFDA before its marketing; beyond the list, it need to get pre-approval by SFDA. What¡¯s more, the period for product registration narrow to 30-50days according to this regulation.
While to lower requirements on market entry, the regulation attaches stress on the industrial supervision and administration, especially post marketing supervision. For example, the regulation prohibits to sale health food by holding conferences, or health workshops etc; it also strengthen the measures to control exaggerate advertising or health food or conventional food claimed with medicinal functions.
Different with previous one, the 2nd edition of the Regulation shall not go public, only solicit opinions on related government organs or associations.
SFDA issues the regulations on application and review of health foods containing coenzyme Q10 or soybean isoflavones
In order to regulate the application and review of health foods containing coenzyme Q10 or soybean isoflavones, the State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) issued the notices on regulating application and review of health foods containing coenzyme Q10 or soybean isolflavones according to Provision on Health Food Registration (interim) recently.
